In 2019, Namur, the capital of Wallonia, hosted the first edition of the International Lyric Art Competition of Namur (CIALN). A jury composed of representatives from opera houses, artistic agents, music critics, and internationally renowned lyric artists auditioned 56 candidates from 19 different countries. This competition was designed as a real promotion for young confirmed talents and as a stepping stone for their career.

Under the patronage of Madame Patrizia Ciofi and based on the major axis of the singing tradition in Namur but also on the development of the IMEP, this event aims to complement the city's and the Royal Institute of Music and Pedagogy's position as an essential reference in the practice of lyric art, thus fitting perfectly into the dynamic "Namur Confluent culture."

The next session of CIALN-Jodie Devos will take place from January 26 to February 07, 2026, with the participation of the orchestra of the Royal Opera of Wallonia-Liege, under the direction of Ayrton Desimpelaere.
